Counselling Agreement – Terms and Conditions

Safety Agreement:

Clients must be 18 years or older to book counselling or coaching services. Janine Holland provides private and confidential support to all clients. She will not share your name or any identifying information outside of her practice, except with her clinical supervisor, unless she believes there is a risk of serious harm to someone, particularly a child.

For couples attending therapy, it is essential that the relationship is in a relatively healthy state. If either partner engages in or is affected by violent or abusive behaviour, joint therapy or coaching may not be safe. In such cases, the therapist will recommend appropriate referral agencies for each partner. Janine Holland reserves the right to terminate counselling if the client’s behaviour or material shared during sessions is deemed inappropriate.

Therapy Boundaries:

  • Mobile Phones: To avoid distractions, please turn off or silence your mobile phone during therapy sessions.
  • Punctuality: Please aim to arrive on time for your appointments. Delays may result in a shorter session, as the therapist may have other clients scheduled.
  • Prepayment: Payment is required in advance for each session, whether by telephone or online. Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit/debit card, or through the booking system link.
  • Cancellation Policy: A minimum of two working days’ notice is required to reschedule or receive a refund for an appointment. Cancellations with less than two days’ notice will still be charged.
  • Unauthorized Recording: Trust and privacy are critical in therapy. Please do not record sessions. Any attempt to do so may lead to termination of the therapy.
  • Social Media: The professional relationship between therapist and client prohibits connecting on social media platforms, such as Facebook, Messenger, or WhatsApp.
  • Contacting the Therapist: Janine Holland is available via email during weekdays at 3cscommunication.co.uk. Contact outside of sessions is generally limited to scheduling or cancelling appointments. Detailed discussions are reserved for therapy sessions to protect your confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.

Appointments

The duration of therapy varies for each client, but as a general guide:

  • Couples Relationship Counselling: Approximately 10 sessions
  • Individual Counselling: Approximately 6 sessions
  • Single Intervention Therapy: Typically a single session. However, clients may book additional sessions after a few weeks if necessary. This can be discussed with the therapist for clarification.

Sessions last for 50 minutes.
